This area is for Helpful Maintenance
tips from Cove Sound Moorings boaters.

Bottom Paint:

Cove Sound Moorings is unique in that it is located within a sheltered harbor, away from strong wave and current forces that are common to other marinas in the area.

Since the water flow is much more limited, in and out of our harbor, the characteristics of the bottom paint used on your boat might be different than in a marina located on the Manatee River or the ICW where constant strong water flow may assist in preventing barnicle and other types of marine growth from attaching itself to your boat's hull.

Have you had good success with a particular type of bottom paint? Send your comments over for review and posting...

Teak Oils & Finishes:

Yes, there are still a few boaters who have not had enough punishment and continue to oil, clean, varnish, (repeat, repeat, repeat, etc.) their teak trim every couple of months in the hot, steamy, wet, UV intensive Florida sunshine.

For those of you who still gain tremendous pleasure and pride in their teak refinishing skills, please send us your comments on what works on your boat. Helpful tips on application would be appreciated too.
